Everyone has a home that is near and dear to their heart, and this year the people of Clinton County are celebrating theirs!
Established in 1839, some 22 years before the Civil War, Clinton County will celebrate its 175th anniversary on June 21. It is named in honor of Dewitt Clinton, the seventh governor of New York and a backer of the Erie Canal. Its first settlers arrived around 1762.
One of the most anticipated events is the Best of Clinton County Festival and Parade, which will take place in downtown Lock Haven on June 21. Show your Clinton County pride and make plans to attend!
Attractions include a display of antique cars, a bounce house for kids, an array of vendors selling unique antiques and crafts, and a water tank in which people can dunk one or more Clinton County commissioners.
This event will pay homage to the history, diversity and success of the citizens and communities of Clinton County. Other anniversary events also are planned throughout the year. For more information, visit www.clintoncountypa.com/175/.
