It might be small, but Lititz is home to a large amount of historical, exciting and mouth-watering attractions for both residents and visitors.
Lititz has existed since 1746 and with a current population of over 9,300, it has been known as America’s “Coolest Small Town”. I’ve visited Lititz often and the best way to describe it is it has the perfect balance between big city feel and comforting hometown.
With a unique selection of shops and boutiques, restaurants and cafes and several attractions and events native only to Lititz, the town packs a lot into its 2.3 square miles.
The Sturgis Pretzel House, the first pretzel bakery in America, and the Wilbur Chocolate Factory, museum and store, are well-known attractions that are hard to pass up when you catch a whiff of their mouth-watering products.
It’s also one busy place. On the second Friday of each month, the “Lovin’ Lititz every second” celebration is held downtown. During this event the local merchants stay open late into the night and vendors, artists and performers set up along the main street to sell their goods, share their art and showcase their talents for the enjoyment of the community.
The Saturday farmers market is another favorite. It takes place from mid-May through mid-October and features live music is performed, children’s activities and more. And of course, you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, plants and baked goods.
Accessibility is a big plus in Lititz as most points of interest are both family friendly and within walking distance of each other. The variety of attractions and events make it an ideal stop on your next tour of Lancaster County. You can be sure it’s on mine. And it’s Purely PA!
