A huge “thank you!” to those who responded to a July bill insert asking customers to consider making a donation to Operation HELP. Your response will allow us to help even more of those in need with their energy bills.

“It was a very nice response, coming at a time of year when many people are on vacation or occupied with other summertime activities,” said Tim Dahl, PPL Electric Utilities’ manager of regulatory programs and business services.

“Operation HELP has provided peace of mind to 86,000 families who have benefited from more than $24 million collected through Operation HELP in the past 30 years. Every dollar helps, even those collected during the warm weather.”

We traditionally solicit donations every December from employees, retirees and customers. Donations last year were about $1.4 million, with $390,000 coming from PPL Electric Utilities customers, $57,000 from employees and retirees, and $1 million from PPL Corporation. Annual donations regularly exceed $1.4 million, the most of any electric or gas utility in the state.

Dahl said the utility also occasionally receives donations from other charitable organizations, family trusts and inheritances.
