In case you missed it, we had a tremendous response to our Veterans Grant Challenge this year, with more than 35,000 votes cast.

Thanks to everyone out there who took the time to vote for one of the deserving groups on the list.

The contest was open to 501(c) (3) nonprofit organizations whose primary mission is to serve and assist veterans of the United States armed forces.

American Legion Post 306 in Taylor, Lackawanna County, and the Blue Star Mothers of Lehigh Valley, Chapter 201, were the two winners of the $1,000 prize. The two groups combined for nearly 12,700 of the more than 35,000 votes cast over social media channels, including Facebook and Twitter. We announced the winners on Veterans Day.

All the groups who were on our ballot are deserving organizations. The commitment they have for veterans is deep and it is special. Thanks to all the veterans groups — and of course, our veterans — for all you do.
