A PPL Electric Utilities employee recently put some critical training to work when he rushed to the aid of a motorcyclist involved in a crash in Northumberland County.

Journeyman Lineman Brandon Kehres was traveling to a job Monday, August 17, when he saw a motorcycle travel off Route 44 in Turbotville and crash into a mailbox. The motorcyclist fell off the bike and suffered multiple injuries that weren’t life-threatening.

Kehres called 911 to summon help before getting his truck off the road to avoid creating a hazard on the road. After others at the accident scene moved the accident victim to a shady place under a tree, Kehres gave him water to drink and ice for his wounds.

Kehres remained with the man until an ambulance arrived. “He was very lucky,” Kehres said of the man.

He said his previous first aid and situational awareness training helped prepare him to instinctively respond to the incident.
