Going out shopping on Black Friday? Good luck finding the perfect deal, not to mention a parking space within a half-mile of the mall.
One thing you won’t have to look hard for is energy savings. If you’re in the market for electronics or appliances, just look for products with the ENERGY STAR® marking.
ENERGY STAR-rated items are independently certified to use less energy over time, compared to other similar products. These products meet strict energy efficiency guidelines set by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Some of us tend to associate the ENERGY STAR program with big household appliances like refrigerators and clothes washers.
But did you know that electronic devices also receive ENERGY STAR ratings? Computers, printers, scanners, home theater systems, audio amplifiers and Blu-Ray disc players are among the household items evaluated for their energy consumption.
So if you’re in the market for appliances or electronics – not just on Black Friday – look for the ENERGY STAR rating and take an opportunity to save energy. You can learn more about the program here.
