Need some juice for that cell phone? If you’re in the Poconos, you can charge up with the power of the sun.
We’ve long supported the Pocono Environmental Education Center’s mission of environmental education, sustainable living and appreciation of nature. Recently, we provided the center with a grant to install a solar charging bench near the front entrance of its main education building.
This new addition to the center’s campus comes at the perfect time, according to the center’s executive director, Jeff Rosalsky.
“From early March right through the end of June, the center will host more than 18,000 school students from over 150 schools in the tri-state area, and many of them will need to charge their cell phones,” Rosalsky said. “Why not teach them about solar energy at the same time?”
If you want to check it out for yourself, the Environmental Education Center is located at 538 Emery Road, Dingmans Ferry, within the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. You can learn more at peec.org.
