Two accounts at once
As part of our ongoing You Ask, We Answer campaign, we’re answering some of the most frequent questions we get from customers. Here’s one about having more than one account active at once:
I’m moving, but I need to keep service at my existing home for a little while after I start my new service. Can I have two accounts at the same time?
Yes. You can have more than one account in your name. You can start the new service and stop the old service on different dates and your electricity will not be affected. You will have a separate account number for each service.
You can find more info on starting, stopping or moving service here.
Does anyone know how i transfer service to someone else at same address because i am moving and account is in my name
Good Morning Carmella,
Please go to http://www.pplelectric.com/moving. You can stop service in your name and the other person can start service in their name. Thanks!
If I have 2 accounts under my name, with different account numbers. Does that mean I’ll get 2 different bills for the usage on both residencies? Or do you combine it.
Good Morning Angel, Each meter requires a separate account number. Two different account numbers require separate bills for each resident. These bills cannot be combined. Thanks for checking with us!
Can I have electric on in 2 places?
Yes, you can have electric service at more than one address.
I tried that years ago and someone in your company kept canceling the service at my new address. If I move in the future and have to sell my previous house, how could this be avoided?
I have an account and somehow 2 other ones are on my credit report
Good Morning, please call us at 1-800-342-5775. We are happy to review your accounts. Thank you

Good Morning, that is a great question. If you receive a termination notice, the termination will take place on the on the address it was issued on. Thank you.

Therefore, we always recommend that if you are struggling to pay your bill, apply for assistance and set up a payment agreement under http://www.pplelectric.com/billhelp. Thanks for checking with us today!

Can you have service at two different houses in your name but with different electric companies
Good Afternoon Bonia, Yes, you can have more than one account in your name at two different houses with different electric companies. Let us know if we can assist you further. Thanks for checking with us!
if someone had power on in there name at a home but then someone starts new service there but the others power is not turned off yet whos power is running ?
Good Afternoon Jaci, We would have to review the accounts with the dates of the connects & disconnects to answer this question. The best general answer I can provide is for example, if the account in active in my name until 9/12/20 the power is running in my name. As soon as another starts service in their name say for 9/13, then power starts running in their name. If someone closes their account and no one starts service in their name, the meter is blocked and no electric service is available. Thanks for reaching out to us!
Can I have two accounts under my name at two different places and how do I apply for the other place
Good Afternoon Dawn, You can have more than one account in your name at two separate places. You will have a separate account number for each service. You can start service online under https://www.pplelectric.com/moving or call us at 1-800-342-5775 option 3 weekdays between 8am-5pm. Thanks for checking with us!
When I get my PPL bill in the mail there are two identical bills, same account, same everything including two remittance ticks to send back with my check payment. I only ever use one of these. I never got two copies of my electric bill until I moved to my current apartment. Why would I be getting two copies sent to me in the same envelop, both for one account? It almost seems to me like I might be paying for electricity to another tenant, or for other parts of the building because at my old 1 BR apartment my bill was usually around $50 to $80, and now since moving to my new 1 BR apartment it is always between $100 to $160.
Is it possible that sometime in the past two meters were merged into one meter, and that I’m actually getting two identical bill statements because of this? This would also explain why my electric bill at this new apartment is always so much higher than at my previous apartment. Both had electric heat, and a single air conditioner. My electric usage couldn’t have doubled, I don’t think it should have.
Good Morning Stephen, This is quite the anomaly. Each meter is billed on a separate bill account number. With the description you are providing, it’s possible that a duplicate bill is being issued each month which we can look into. We would be happy to review your account. Please private message us on Facebook, direct message us on Twitter or call us weekdays between 8am-5pm at 1-800-342-5775 to provide your bill account number & address. We can certainly simplify and resolve this issue for you. Thanks!
