Thanks to the kindness and generosity of our employees, a recent collection for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox program was a huge success.

More than 150 boxes were assembled throughout PPL’s locations in Bloomsburg, the Lehigh Valley, Scranton and Wilkes-Barre.

Not only did employees donate fun-and-functional items to fill the boxes, but 20 employees met in Allentown to pack the boxes for the children. Others made additional monetary contributions to help cover shipping costs.

“It was exciting and heartwarming to see so many people working together on this project,” said Rob Hodge, president of PPL’s Christian Business Resource Group. “It was a tremendous team effort.”

Operation Christmas Child is sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, a non-denominational evangelical Christian organization that provides physical and spiritual aid to needy children and families around the world.

Because the contents of each box are shared among family members and friends, Samaritan’s Purse estimates that at least eight people benefit from each shoebox full of items.

The boxes are now on their long journey to reach children around the globe.
