Our employees continued to show their commitment to improving safety and giving to local communities in 2016, with another successful year of the Good Catch initiative.

The program generated $5,480, which will be distributed to regional nonprofit organizations. It represents another example of our giving culture, where workers view community support as a vital part of their work.

“The commitment that our employees continue to show in helping others never ceases to amaze me,” said employee Mike Quashne, who oversees the Good Catch program. “I’m proud that, with the help of many of our workers, we were once again able to contribute to organizations that do very good work in the communities we serve.”

This was the third year of the Good Catch program, which was created as a way to get people more involved in improving safety while providing help to groups in need. Employees are encouraged to make suggestions to correct existing or potential safety issues.

This year, employees submitted 274 Good Catches. For each catch, PPL Corporation makes a $20 contribution. The contributions are deposited in funds maintained by each of PPL Electric Utilities’ six operating regions.

The program has generated $24,880 for nonprofit organizations over the past three years.

Employees in our Central and Susquehanna regions (pictured above) generated the largest donation — $2,300 to the American Red Cross of Central Pennsylvania — by reporting the highest number of Good Catches during the year.

Other grant recipients included:

  • American Red Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania, $780
  • United Way Worldwide, $600
  • American Red Cross of Central Pennsylvania, $510
  • Bethesda Mission Youth Center, $510

The program will continue in 2017.
