We held our first volunteer appreciation event April 21 in recognition of National Volunteer Month, to celebrate PPL people who dedicate themselves to taking action and solving problems in our communities.
While the event celebrated volunteering throughout the company, seven employees were chosen to receive special awards.
The awards included:
The Peer-to-Peer Award. This award recognizes and rewards volunteers who have demonstrated outstanding and personal commitment to strengthening their community and improving the lives of others. Volunteers were nominated by their peers. Each winner received a $500 donation to be given to a charity of their choice.
- Chris Gonzalez, field manager-Distribution Operations, based in Hazleton
- Nicole Lacouve, support engineer, based in Allentown
- Neil Matz, IT Systems engineer, based in Allentown
- Allen Mausteller, journeyman electrician-substation, based in Bloomsburg
The Leadership Recognition Volunteer Award. This award is given to an employee who is nominated by a supervisor in recognition of outstanding service to their community. Nominees give freely of their time to inspire others and make a difference in people’s lives. They share PPL’s values and are a model of good citizenship. Each winner received a $1,000 donation to be given to a charity of their choice.
- Donna Bowser, steno/clerk general, based in Scranton
- Sue Drabic, senior talent management consultant, based in Allentown
The Volunteer of the Year Award. All nominees for the Peer-to-Peer and Leadership Recognition Volunteer awards were eligible to win this award. The winner received a $2,000 donation to be given to a charity of their choice.
- Pam Yale, universal services representative for regulatory programs and business services, based in Hazleton
“As a company, we value corporate citizenship, but it is you that puts that commitment into action…whether it’s Earth Day cleanups, pitching in for Day of Caring or helping to deliver books to local schools for Cover to Cover,” PPL Corporation Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Bill Spence said. “Please know that we genuinely appreciate and value your commitment of time to volunteering with PPL.
