Students at West Hazleton Elementary School and Washington Elementary School in Allentown will begin the school year with new supplies, thanks to the generosity of our employees in those areas.
About $2,000 worth of items, including notebooks, pencils, crayons, pens, and glue sticks, were donated by the Customer Services leadership team, employees and vendor partners. The collection was a key part of their summer all-hands team meeting and potluck luncheons.
“This has been a wonderful opportunity for the team to come together and provide assistance to local kids as they start the school year. I am humbled by the generosity of our team and the outpouring of supplies,” said Sheila Ketterer, director-Advanced Metering & Data Operations.
Washington’s principal, Bob Wheeler, was particularly appreciative of the supplies, which will be included in backpacks donated by Costco.
“He was so happy to receive the donations. He must have said ‘awesome’ 20 times,” said Ann Coldren, manager of Regulatory Accounting, who dropped off six boxes of supplies and $525 in gift cards.
