The PPL Foundation has donated $25,000 to the American Red Cross in support of Hurricane Maria relief and recovery efforts in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by the one-two punch of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands,” said Ryan Hill, president of the PPL Foundation. “Our friends and families in these areas have a long road ahead of them, and we want them to know that we care.”

On Sept. 28, PPL’s Tower Building headquarters was lit in red and blue as part of a community awareness effort coordinated by local Spanish radio station, La Mega.

According to the American Red Cross, Hurricane Maria has left the islands with widespread destruction. Hundreds of thousands of homes, businesses, schools and hospitals were damaged or destroyed. Power and communication systems are still out in most areas. It could be months until power is fully restored.
