Nineteen volunteers recently took a break from making PPL Electric Utilities’ grid more reliable to help a food bank in the Williamsport area.

The volunteers, representing both PPL’s vegetation management team and staff from contractors Davey Resource Group and Penn Line, packed 890 boxes of food at the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank in Williamsport on Wednesday (1/24).

The food bank serves 13 counties in north-central Pennsylvania, distributing 3,000 boxes every month to those in need. Officials at the agency thanked the volunteers for packing 30 percent of the organization’s monthly total in just two hours.
