Kristine Maciolek Small can speak firsthand on the benefits made possible by multiple sclerosis research.
The senior counsel in PPL’s Office of General Counsel was diagnosed with MS, a disease of the central nervous system, in 2002. With medication, she’s managing MS and leading a successful professional and personal life.
“Medical research has made a real positive difference in the way people live with MS now, compared to the past,” Maciolek Small (pictured at right) said. “I owe a lot to this research – and I’m confident that even more progress lies ahead.”
PPL Electric Utilities is supporting the fight to beat MS as the presenting sponsor of the Walk MS Allentown, organized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. The walk takes place Sunday, May 6, at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown.
The event raises money for research into MS, which disrupts the flow of information within the brain and between the brain and body. Last year, more than 300,000 people participated in 400 Walk MS events throughout the country. More than $1 billion has been raised since 1988.
