PPL Electric Utilities’ Light Up The Holidays campaign is back for another year, and you’re invited to join the fun while helping the community.

We’re again asking our social media followers to post pictures of special December holiday scenes between Dec. 11-26 on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, using the #PPLLightUpTheHolidays hashtag.

For every photo posted with the hashtag between Dec. 11-26, we’ll make a $10 donation (up to a total of $2,500) to our Operation HELP fund that provides grants that help income-eligible customers pay their energy bills. The program has helped close to 100,000 families since 1983, and your photo will allow it to help even more people.

Your photos don’t have to show light displays. They could show your dog dressed like Santa, or your kids baking rugelach. They could be photos your grandpa took 50 years ago. They could even be brief videos.

Just show us a special scene – something that makes your holiday season light up – and post it with the #PPLLightUpTheHolidays hashtag on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between Dec. 11-26. (Each photo will only be counted once for the purposes of calculating our donation. So, no need to post them more than once.)

At the end of the campaign, we’ll pick a few of our favorite photos and post them on our Stories blog.

There are no prizes and no formal “winners” – except the people we can help through our Operation HELP donation, of course.

Official rules of the campaign are below. We hope you’ll take part!

#PPLLightUpTheHolidays Campaign Rules

By submitting a photo, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by these Official Rules, which are subject to modification in the sole discretion of PPL Electric Utilities.

To be eligible to take part, you must be at least 18 years of age as of Dec. 11, 2018.

The campaign will be open to photo submissions between 12:01 a.m. Dec. 11 and 11:59 p.m. Dec. 26, 2018. Only photos posted to Facebook, Twitter and Instagram with the #PPLLightUpTheHolidays hashtag will be considered to be included in the campaign.

Don’t post a photo unless you own the copyright. Photos must be your own work (or the work of a family member, if submitting a “flashback” photo from the past.)

PPL Electric Utilities will select some, but not all, submitted photos for campaign-related communications after the campaign is over, such as social media posts summarizing the campaign. By submitting your photo(s), you give PPL Electric Utilities the right to reproduce it/them in connection with these campaign-related communications, without additional consideration or compensation.

PPL Electric Utilities will donate $10 to its Operation HELP program for each photo posted according to the rules above, up to a total of $2,500. Each individual photo will be counted only once toward the donation, even if it is posted multiple times or on more than one social media platform.

By submitting a photo to the campaign, you release, discharge and hold harmless PPL Electric Utilities, Facebook, and any other social media sites through which the campaign is accessed, and their respective officers, directors, employees, agents, representatives, parent companies, subsidiaries, affiliates, related companies, advertising and promotional agencies from any liability whatsoever for any claims, costs, injuries, losses, damages, fees, or expenses (including, without limitation, attorneys’ fees and expenses) of any kind arising out of or in connection with the campaign.

PPL Electric Utilities reserves the right in its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be: (a) tampering or attempting to tamper with the entry process or the operation of the campaign, or any Sponsor website; (b) violating the letter or spirit of these Official Rules or other guidelines; (c) violating the terms of service, conditions of use and/or general rules or guidelines of any Sponsor property or service, or (d) acting in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person.  Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the campaign may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law.  Failure by Sponsor to enforce any provision of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision.
