Wind storm restoration update
Updated at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Hundreds of PPL Electric Utilities workers continue to work around clock responding to widespread outages caused by damaging winds. As of 6 p.m. Tuesday (2/26), about 800 customers were without power.
It is expected that all customers who experienced outages on Sunday and Monday will have their power restored by 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
More than 97,000 customers have been restored since severe winds began causing power outages on Sunday.
About 300 workers from other states were brought in to assist with the restoration efforts..
Customers are urged to report outages at pplelectric.com/outage, by calling 1-800-DIAL-PPL, or by texting Text “Outage” to TXTPPL (898775).
Customers can personalize PPL Alerts to receive outage information by phone, email, text or all three.
We urge customers to stay safe:
- Always stay away from any downed lines, keep kids and pets away from them and report fallen wires immediately by calling 1-800-DIAL-PPL.
- Make sure your cell phones and other personal devices are fully charged.
- If you must run a generator, make sure you run it outdoors in a well-ventilated area — never indoors or in a garage.
- Use flashlights, not candles, to reduce fire risk.
Electric is primary source of heat and ppl says days to fix? HELP!
Hello
I spoke to Brandon today at 2:00 to report an issue with our 3 phase power coming into the building affecting our heat. I realize how busy you are today. Brandon took my cell phone number and told me to text 898775 to get updates. He advised me to text the number and status. Each time I do this, I am asked to visit the website and attach my phone number to the account. I was understanding that is what Brandon was doing. This is a commercial account.
Good Afternoon, please log in at https://www.pplelectric.com/, then select Manage Account Information under the Preference Center and add your phone number to the account. You will then be able to text us from your phone number. You can also visit Pplelectric.com/alerts to enroll your device in the PPL Outage Alerts. If you need any assistance please send us your phone number and the address. Thank you!
PP&L had power pre storm planning. Should have had crews staged from out of town to get to work. Waiting to the evening of the storm is elementary mismsnagement
Great Work PPL! Tough conditions And still getting power back on. Thanks
Fortunate, knock on my wood head, to have escaped any outage, especially living very near to my neighbor, Blue Mountain. Winds love to barrel alongside it and disperse into adjoining communities south of it.
