Heading to Florida to assist with Hurricane Dorian restoration
In anticipation of Hurricane Dorian’s Florida landfall, PPL Electric Utilities is sending workers, trucks and equipment to support Florida Power and Light and Duke Energy Florida in responding to expected outages.
Nearly 50 people are driving to Florida to assist in the efforts. PPL crews are expected to arrive in Florida Saturday evening.
Our crews are often called to help restore power in other regions as part of mutual assistance agreements. Most recently, our crews assisted PECO with outages in the Philadelphia area. Our crews also went to Puerto Rico to help restore power after Hurricane Maria and went to Florida after Hurricane Irma.
We’re proud to lend a hand to what could be a massive power restoration effort.
Our thoughts are with the people of Florida as they brace for the storm.
I saw on the news that the people who you sent to Florida are volunteers and I would just like to say that I am proud of them and your company for the help you are giving. It is dangerous work in the best of conditions, good luck to them.
this is awesome ty so much I live in Pa but have family in Fla….brings tears to my eyes …so grateful !!
Thanks to all who are heading south to help restore power. Be safe.
