Thanks to a $10,000 sustaining grant from the PPL Foundation, seven students with disabilities were able to access learning opportunities throughout the region. The grant supported Summer STEP (Student Transition Education Program), a program run by Arc of Susquehanna Valley, Northumberland County.
Through the program, students with intellectual or developmental disabilities visited Inner Harbor and the Aquarium in Baltimore, Rickets Glen, the National Zoo in Washington DC, a photography workshop, the Turkey Hill Experience and the Knoebel’s amusement park.
Shown here are the students along with Tracie Witter, Regional Affairs Director, at the Northumberland County Museum. Fort Augusta, a British stronghold against the French in the mid-1700s, was located on this site along the Susquehanna River.
