Did you know that ENERGY STAR® certified refrigerators consume about nine percent less energy than the federal standard?*
Thanks to Kenmore—with a little help from PPL Electric Utilities—Rosali Bedio of Sheppton, Schuylkill County, knows first-hand about the energy savings offered by an efficient refrigerator.
Rose recently received a new Kenmore ENERGY STAR-certified refrigerator, after winning a sweepstakes run by Bob Vila and promoted by PPL. It’s all part of the ENERGY STAR Flip Your Fridge campaign, and it was a pleasant surprise for Rose.
“I have never won anything,” she said. “This was a once-in-a lifetime experience.”
To prepare for the installation of the efficient fridge, Rose and her husband, Dave, remodeled their kitchen. Then, they relied on PPL’s Appliance Recycling Program to take care of their old, inefficient refrigerator.
“PPL picked up our old fridge and hauled it away to be recycled, then they gave us a $35 rebate,” said Rose. “It was very convenient.”
By properly recycling that old refrigerator, and then swapping it out for an ENERGY STAR certified model, Rose will be responsible for keeping more than 10,000 pounds of carbon pollution out of the environment. This helps save energy, save money and protect the planet. That’s a winning proposition for both Rose and the world.
