Winter has officially arrived, and it’s brought colder temperatures with it.

As the mercury drops, it’s normal to see your energy use increase, leading to higher-than-normal bills in colder months. This year, we also have to deal with the rising costs of natural gas and other energy supply sources. We want you to know that we’re here to help.

Here are some ways you can save this winter.

Manage your bill

It’s easier than ever to manage your bill with an online account at You can sign up for paperless billing, track your daily and monthly electricity use from the Account Summary page, and adjust your alert preferences. You can even set a bill amount warning alert to receive a phone call, text, or email when your bill reaches a specific dollar amount.

Save energy

There are many opportunities to save energy all around you. Here are three simple tips to get started.

  1. Seal hidden leaks. Air can escape around windows, doors, skylights, and other openings. If you add up all the hidden air leaks in your home, it would be equivalent to keeping a window fully open all year long! Check your window and door trims and seal them up.
  2. Maintain your heating system. Have your HVAC system inspected at least once a year and clean your air filters monthly to prolong the life of your system and save you money.
  3. Let the light in. Keep the blinds and curtains in your home open. Letting more sun in will help keep your home warm so your heating system doesn’t have to work quite as hard. Plus, natural light from your windows is great for all those video calls.

Here are a few more ways to save energy and money.

Shop for electricity

It’s important to know that we deliver your electricity, but we don’t own the power plants where that electricity is generated. In Pennsylvania, you can shop around and choose the electricity supplier that is right for you. Make sure you’re not paying too much for your electricity supply. Check out our smart shopping tips to help guide you through the process.

Note: When you contract with a supplier, beware of variable rates that start low and spike with the cost of supply.
