Cost is the problem
I have insulated drapes on my windows. I set my thermostat at 60 in LR, BR and bath , I’m one person living here last I checked I was using $12 a day yet in summer with two acs constantly going my bill barely goes over $100. Last month it was $258 most people say they’d freeze if they kept their heat at such a low temp. PPL doesn’t care and no matter what I apply for “I make too much money” I’m on SS with a part time job so I can at least eat every day. A house of 4 shouldn’t have the same bill as a house of one with settings of 60 degrees!

Lower the rates!!!!
Ordinary households are not the root cause of the energy crisis or rising energy costs. They’re mostly downstream recipients of structural forces they don’t control.
1. Households don’t set prices — energy costs are driven by global markets and wholesale pricing, not individual use.
2. Crises come from supply shocks — wars, underinvestment, bottlenecks, weather; not excessive consumer demand.
3. Consumers are price-takers — industry, infrastructure, and financial markets dominate energy demand and volatility.
4. Blame-the-consumer narratives deflect responsibility — they mask policy, regulatory, and infrastructure failures.
Energy costs rise because of system-level failures, not because ordinary people use too much energy.
Stop blaming us.
You summed it up perfectly!
Do you have peak & nonpeak times to use certain appliances?

I find your suggestion for using bubble wrap to save energy interesting and would try it to see if it helps. I am a low income senior citizen and live in an apartment so I am limited to what I can do. I do not have the ability to purchase bubble wrap nor do I receive many (if any) packages that contain bubble wrap. Would PPL provide it for me? A WRAP representative provided me some help but could not finish due to not having the correct light bulbs, etc. Would WRAP provide bubble wrap? Thank you for your time.

How can I keep my heating bill down. I keep it at 60 and I’m freezing. I don’t want to keep pushing it up and down. I’m going to finish putting plastic on my kitchen windows. It’s only January and I’m worried

I welcome any suggestions to help reduce my cost of electricity. I do not qualify for any assistance or other help with my utility expenses. All utilities have raised the costs, and this affects seniors who live on a fixed income. Thank you.

Is there a senior energy program to come and caulk my windows. They are very drafty in my double wide home. We are age 70 and 78 and not able to do these things at this time in life.
Hello Pam,
Most of the assistance programs listed on our website are income based, not age based. You may want to check with your area’s Agency on Aging to see what programs they may offer for your age group.
Our WRAP program provides income-eligible customers with a no-cost energy assessment, free energy-saving products and energy tips for long-term savings. You can find more information and apply at https://pplelectric.com/site/Ways-to-Save/Assistance-Programs/WRAP.

My problem isn’t saving energy. The problem is the electric company constantly raising rates. I’ve switched all my lights to LED. I’ve turned the temperature down on my water heater and my house, I turn lights off when not needed, but yet my monthly bill keeps growing.

there would be no need for all these things if you just LOWER YOUR RATES AND SERVICE CHARGES…
That is the best answer!!! BUT .. PPL does not want to hear that!!!
I love saving money on my electric bill and I like the program yall have thanks for the tip
I love the program yall have it saved me a lot of money
Please put yourself in the habit of whenever you leave a room, turn the light switch off for that room. Keep your routine going to help save your electric costs. God bless.
Stop using AI slop in your posts.
Thank you for providing the information to decease my electric usage. PPL has provided with expertise and I am very appreciative at a time of rising inflation.
Using much less electricity yet increased pricing eliminates saving usage incentive
Cost are increasing too much!
Hello ppl.
I took my time to go over all the energy saving tips and I use all of them for the exception of the bubble wrap.
It’s too bad the we are only able to answer 4 questions.
The other thing I do is to keep my home at 60 degrees and to be honest am so tire of being cold.
I wish it didn’t have to be this way, but I simply cannot afford it.
I know there is a program that helps low income senior citizens with windows and that type of things but I don’t know which one it is, it may actually be you “PPL” but I’m not sure.
If you have information on that program I would appreciate it.
Thanks so much.
Hello Freddy,

Thank you
I know how to save money and cut costs, but the real problem is your rates. I think ppl needs to take it’s own energy saving quiz for its clients (but we know utility companies don’t actually care about those the provide).
Have been using all the suggestions that were given. High cost still prevail. Most likely due to high energy cost.

Thanks for the tips. I was quite pleased that when only able to choose one response I would have been able to choose several that I currently utilize. Any way I can save money is a great idea.
I still need more energy tip ideas as my electric bill is still high using the above suggestions that I already do.

Data centers Y? Only big corp. will benefit on the backs of the regular customers. Let those who use them PAY FOR THEM not the little guy.
I would to know
One day of using our electric heat went sky rocketing but I should have a lower bill this month as it is only one room that has electric heat and I got new windows which help so much and only 2 windows need to be replaced but like the idea for those that I will replace but at a later time.
How can you know how much is someone bill a month before you mail it out
Good morning, Mike,
Bills are generated after the meter is read for the month. For example, if your billing cycle goes from Dec 3rd – Jan 5th, your meter will be read on Jan 5th and the bill is sent that day or the next business day. It is also able to be viewed in your online profile the same day as the meter is read or the day after. I hope this information is helpful. Thank you.
Need help in lowering my bill 😫.
