Powering the holiday season

Powering the holiday season

With the end of the 2025 calendar comes the end of the holiday season, a time filled with family, community and joy.

Throughout the year, and throughout the holidays, it’s the moments along the way — big and small — that fuel our passion to deliver safe and reliable power.

This holiday season has been a busy one for us in our communities, and we are grateful to have been able to take part in a few big events that bring joy and warmth to us all.

Lighting up the holiday in Allentown

There are few symbols more iconic during the season than the holiday tree. Our team had a blast taking part in downtown Allentown’s annual tree lighting ceremony in early December. From driving into Allentown’s ArtsPark in our decorated bucket truck to turning on the tree with the wave of a candy cane wand, the event featured everything that makes this time of year special.

Oh, and we forgot to mention Santa! We were even able to pull the big man in red away from his duties at the North Pole to take part in the festivities.

Setting the tree in Lancaster

You can’t light a tree if there isn’t a tree to light! That’s where we helped in LancasterTo prepare the city for its lighting ceremony, our crews arrived at a home in nearby Millersville to pick up the annual holiday tree. The tree was then delivered to Penn Square in downtown Lancaster, where our crews used their equipment to safely set the tree for all to enjoy.

The gift of giving in Williamsport

Most recently, a team of PPL Electric volunteers around Williamsport headed to the local Salvation Army as part of its Red Kettle Campaign. Our volunteers helped local families pick out gifts for their loved ones and helped deliver the gifts and food items to residents’ vehicles and homes

These are events we take part in every year to help make our communities a little brighter during the holiday season. And while we always look forward to helping lend a hand this time of year, we also look forward to helping power the little moments of magic that happen throughout the year.

PPL Electric Utilities wishes you all a safe and joyous end to your holiday season, and we look forward to delivering for you in 2026.

5 for ‘25: How we helped in our communities in 2025

5 for ‘25: How we helped in our communities in 2025

For more than a century, our dedicated team has stood by a simple belief: supporting our communities is both our responsibility and our privilege. We take pride in rolling up our sleeves and working together to empower our neighbors and create a brighter tomorrow.

As we approach the end of 2025, here are 5 of our favorite events from this past year:

With the holiday season in full swing, our work is not done; our employees will be busy in our communities and delivering safe, reliable power to light up the moments that matter most to your families.

Energizing Community through volunteerism

Energizing Community through volunteerism

We value more than delivering safe and reliable power to our 1.5 million customers. For over 100 years, we’ve served communities throughout central and eastern Pennsylvania, not just because it’s our job, but because this is our home. It’s where our children go to school. We’re all neighbors.

That’s why we’re proud to support our communities in a number of ways, including volunteerism. Over 460 PPL employees recently took part in the United Way’s annual Day of Caring. Our employees painted, planted, packed, shopped and beautified 20 different organizations across our service area.

It takes a lot of coordination to make this come together. A team captain from PPL was assigned to each of the 20 organizations. The captains worked with the organizations to address their biggest needs and figure out how to provide the most assistance possible with our groups. From there, captains worked with their fellow volunteers to organize supplies and execute safety protocols.

This event is always our favorite. More PPL employees join in to make a positive impact in their communities every year. In fact, our participation has more than doubled over the last two years. In addition to the United Way’s Day of Caring, we follow up our efforts with a Family Day of Caring. This allows for our employees to share in this great work with their loved ones.

We look forward to keeping this momentum going, and we can’t wait to go even bigger in 2025.

In the meantime, we’re excited to continue this commitment to our neighborhoods. We take part in countless volunteer events year-round. In 2023, our employees volunteered over 15,000 hours. That equals more than one full day of volunteering each year for each of our 1,700 employees.

Giving back isn’t something we do because it looks good on paper, it is in the fabric of who we are.
