August in Pennsylvania—it’s a scorcher. But keeping cool doesn’t have to be complicated. You can chill out and keep your home feeling just right with these easy, quick tips.
Window A/C unit acting up?
Gaps around your window A/C unit force it to work harder, while letting moisture and bugs get inside. Apply foam weatherstripping or caulk for a more permanent solution.
Sticky air got you down?

Try a dehumidifier. It helps dry out the air so you feel cooler—with no need to blast the A/C.
Not-so-cool air vents?

Don’t let leaky ducts cool the wrong part of your house. Sealing and insulating can boost efficiency by 20% and help every room feel just right. Want to compare your cooling costs to last year? Check out our Energy Analyzer.
Want to give your A/C a break?

If you have an attic fan, you can use it to help keep the house comfortable by drawing cool air through the open windows and pushing the warm air up and out.

If I seal my window with foam that reads, it will be permanent. How do I remove my AC out of the window?
Your representative is lying to me. He said PPL has no way to adjust my thermostat, but my thermostat adjusts the temperature setting up during peak cooling periods. The thermostat company says to contact you to get off of this “connected savings program”.
Please help me. I want to terminate it.
Good morning Andrew, we appreciate you reaching out. Please know you are able to terminate the Time of Use program at any time by calling our Customer Service Team weekdays 8am-5pm at 1-800-342-5775 (say Time of Use Department during the prompts.)
I really appreciate these newsletters. I’m a senior on a fixed income, so I can’t afford new and more efficient ways to save on power, other than my smart lights and plugs, but I like to stay updated on what’s happening, and what’s new. Thanks.
