PPL Electric Utilities wins 2023 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year Award for assisting customers in saving electricity and protecting the environment

Pennsylvania utility earns highest level of EPA recognition for third consecutive year

We’re proud to announce we’ve received the 2023 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Energy for the third consecutive year.

“Assisting our customers and protecting the environment are two main focus areas for us,” said Lisa Norden, vice president of Customer Services at PPL Electric Utilities. “We’re proud to accept this award for the third year in a row and honored to be recognized. Through our continued partnership with ENERGY STAR, we’re able to assist our customers in making smarter energy decisions that benefit the environment too.”

To be considered, ENERGY STAR partners must perform at a superior level of energy management, demonstrate best practices, prove organization-wide energy savings, and participate actively and communicate the benefits of energy efficiency and the ENERGY STAR program. In 2022 alone, PPL Electric’s residential energy efficiency program facilitated impressive customer savings of more than 45,900 megawatt-hours — equivalent to the energy used by more than 6,300 homes annually.

Each year, the ENERGY STAR program honors a select group of businesses and organizations that have made outstanding contributions in the transition to a clean energy economy. ENERGY STAR award winners lead their industries in the production, sale, and adoption of energy-efficient products, homes, buildings, services, and strategies. These efforts are essential to fighting the climate crisis, protecting public health, and creating a clean energy future for everyone.

“As we accelerate historic efforts to address climate change, public-private partnerships will be essential to realizing the scale of our ambition,” said Michael S. Regan, administrator at the EPA. “I applaud this year’s ENERGY STAR award winners for working with the EPA to deliver a clean energy future that saves American consumers and businesses money and creates jobs.”

Winners are selected from a network of thousands of ENERGY STAR partners.
